Early brain science and new parent support

To give your family the best possible start

Not just surviving. Thriving.

Modern parent consultation and coaching with licensed and endorsed Infant-Family and Early Childhood Specialists

More than 1 million new neural connections form every second in the early years of life.

The way a child's brain develops from ages zero to five will shape how they think, feel and act for the rest of their lives. We are on a mission to make early brain science accessible, personalized, and empowering. We also support your well-being in the process, knowing that your state of mind is critical to your child’s, and that you fully deserve to enjoy this unique time of life.

Our Services

We offer the most highly-regarded research to guide you through the parenting maze. We also recognize that no amount of scientific knowledge can prepare you for the ways in which you might be moved by being with your baby. In response, we offer a space for reflection to connect your mind and heart. We also create interpersonal environments to deepen the learning and help you build your community.

Anyone raising a child will inevitably ask these two questions:
Is my child thriving? Am I doing a good job?

We see you. We hear you. We are here for you.

What is Infant-Family Early Childhood Mental Health?

In simple terms, it focuses on the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional well-being that creates capacity for strong development of children and families prenatally through age five.

Early experiences play a powerful role in forming neural connections and physically shape the brain in profound, long-lasting ways. We help parents navigate their families’ experiences so they can enjoy this unique stage and feel confident about the ones ahead.

 Brain Science

The “Here and Now”

Babies come into the world with simple but profound psychological needs and capacities.

From the very beginning, babies are trying to answer key questions about the world and build essential skills. Behind even the most mundane or maddening behaviors, neurons are firing and connecting to help them with these tasks. Understanding their developmental agenda and process enables us to be confident and intentional in our parenting.

The “Big Picture”

Brains are built, not born. Early experiences and relationships are the foundation for everything.

During infancy and early childhood, a foundation is laid in the lower brain regions. More complex brain development then builds upon this foundation. Our early brain development shapes how we think, learn, feel and act now and throughout our lives. It impacts all parts of life: school, work, relationships, leisure, our internal experiences and more.

Sensitivity

Because the brain is growing so rapidly, it is uniquely sensitive. It is a special time

The young mind is constantly seeking information, mostly through experiences, about the self, others and the world. This information interacts with genes to reinforce neural networks that create long-term traits, states and skills such as resilience, curiosity, and impulse-control.

The new parent brain is complex. Your brain physically changes in response to parenthood.

Be kind to your mind.

Parents are often tasked with becoming their child’s entire village, while managing challenges like sleep deprivation, information overload, isolation and pressure to keep up with other parts of life. This is a highly sensitive and yet very precious time for you, too.

You deserve the sense of peace and fulfillment that self-care can provide.

It’s all about the interaction.

Children develop within the context of interactive relationships that make them feel safe, loved and appropriately supported. No relationship has a greater impact than the one with primary attachment figures - usually parent(s). We give them all they need when we have all we need.

Nurturing yourself can do wonders for both you and your child.

You are important too.

If we value our children, we must cherish their parents
— John Bowlby, Child Development researcher and pioneer of Attachment Theory

Knowledge is a superpower.

Parenting can feel like going through a maze, not knowing what lies ahead. Understanding early brain science can make all the difference, especially when you also get in touch with your own mind, heart and community.

Meet Our Team

We are both new moms; Vasudha to a 14 month old and a 3 year old and Victoria to a 4 and a 6 year old, three of whom have gap-toothed smiles and natural mullets. We are married to scientists who inspire us to focus on research and data. It feels like we met and forged our friendship a lifetime ago, when we worked together at a nonprofit agency serving families in distress. Watching babies and parents attain mutual delight and fall in love with each other repeatedly is the heart of our work. We are constantly in awe of the beauty that unfolds for growing families.
